Description: | From Sleeping Lady Festival of the Arts Website: Come to the premier international art festival on the Texas and Mexico border in beautiful Del Rio, Texas. This transcendent city, linked to its sister city of Ciudad Acuna as the two are merely separated by the Rio Grande, is opening its doors to the art community inviting artists to bring their creations to the best city on the border!
Del Rio is a city where many cultures blend. There is a long-time culture of sheep and goat ranching, that blends with the culture of its sister city as the two have become one. Then, throw in a strong dose of the federal culture from Laughlin Air Force Base, Border Patrol and other entities that combine for a more than $2 billion of federal economic impact. They are very different cultures that don't collide here, but gently come together and celebrate each others uniqueness.
Art is nothing new to these sister cities. They've produced artists like Adrian Falcon, the premier modern artist in Southwest Texas; Radney Foster who's produced numerous hits on the country charts in Nashville, Tenn. and Carlos Gallardo, legendary actor, producer, screenwriter and director of more than 20 films. This is just the tip of the iceberg for two cities that have deep roots in the arts.
This art festival is destined to be a one-of-a-kind classic as it grows. We urge you to get in on the ground floor and be able to say, I was there in the genesis of the borders biggest and best art festival!
