Description:

From Charleston Jewish Food & Heritage Festival Website:

Join us as we close down Hasell Street on Sunday, November 10, 2019 (12- 5 pm) for the premier Jewish Food & Heritage Festival of the Carolina Lowcountry! We will be serving delicious food (corned beef! knishes! rolled cabbage! black and white cookies! Dr. Browns soda!), listening to great music and hanging out with old and new friends! Rain or shine!

This festive event will feature a variety of traditional Jewish foods including corned beef, chopped liver, imported bagels, knishes, rolled cabbage prepared by the Temple Sisterhood and irresistible Jewish sweets. Activities for children, tours of KKBEs historic property and live entertainment will also be provided. Tickets will be sold to purchase food and enjoy activities. An outdoor stage will feature a mix of local artists.

Founded in 1749, Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim has been a part of the Charleston fabric for over 266 years. KKBEs first sanctuary was destroyed by the great fire of 1838. The current sanctuary built in 1840 is considered one of the finest examples of Greek revival architecture. It is the second oldest synagogue building in the United States and the oldest in continuous use.
