East Hampton |
Dates |
August 30, 2019 - September 02, 2019 |
Description: | From Haddam Neck Fair Website: In the first century of the fair, transportation went from largely horse and oxen drawn vehicles to trucks and automobiles. Food now comes from supermarkets instead of the backyard. People work at jobs miles from Haddam Neck.
In the first century of the fair, there was effort on the part of the Grange organization and 4-H to teach and promote better farming and conservation practices to improve the quality of life. The Haddam Neck chapter of the Grange no longer exists, but 4-H continues as our kids learn these basic living skills and demonstrate them at the fair.
In this, the second century of the fair, there is increasing concern for caring for our land and water resources, and for a return to smaller, more local, natural farming.
The Haddam Neck Fair continues its role of promoting these values while remaining an independent, family-oriented, major social and agricultural event.
