Andrew Jackson's Hermitage is operated by the non-profit Andrew Jackson Foundation (AJF). Founded in 1889, the mission of the AJF is to preserve the home of President Andrew Jackson and serve as a learning resource for a diverse public. The AJF will engage the public through preservation, interpretation, exhibition, education, research and publications to increase understanding of the complex issues of Andrew Jackson and his times, to discuss their relationship to issues and events of today, and to inspire citizenship. Functioning as a national history museum, the AJF serves visiting and non-visiting audiences including students, scholars, historians, and the general public in the Nashville area, the nation and world.
