Description: | From Pioneer Day Website: The City's annual get-together celebration, Pioneer Day, is held on the second Sunday in August at Pioneer Memorial Park. The festivities begin with a parade at 11:00 a.m. and is jam-packed with fun!
Parade at 11:00 a.m. - The parade begins at Newport Fire Hall, 155 20th Street. The parade will make its way down 2nd Avenue to 17th Street where it will go to 4th Avenue and make its way to Pioneer Park.
Live Music from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m.
There is food, vendors, games, bingo,k-9 demonstration,inflatables, a car show, and the St. Paul Park-Newport Lions Club's beer and wine tent! All you can eat corn on the cob will be available with the purchase of a Pioneer Day button, which is available each year to purchase at Newport City Hall, the Library and Community Center and at various local businesses starting in July. Buttons sell for $3, or 4 for $10. The buttons are also used for a raffle drawing. Individuals do not need to be present for the raffle drawing as winning numbers will be placed on the City's website and Facebook page.
Looking for Volunteers - The City is looking for volunteers to help out on Pioneer Day. The City and Old National Bank will be co-sponsoring the corn tent and is seeking volunteers to help prepare the corn between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. If you are interested in volunteering at the corn tent, please contact City Hall at (***) ***-****.
