Description: | Have you heard all the hype about crafting lately? Seems the City of Riverside is catching on to the craze as well with Craftinâ in the City â A Make and Take Marathon. This chic and hip event is for crafters of all ages and skill sets October 27, 2012 from 2 pm to midnight at the La Sierra Senior Center. The event will feature a vendor floor area filled with 15 craft vendors selling their handmade wares. Each vendor booth will also host a Make and Take table so event attendees can do hands-on crafting! The goal of the event is to encourage veteran crafters to share their skills with others. The City of Riverside Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is excited to bring this new concept to residents: âThis is an innovative event for our department. Itâs a different kind of marathon that will have an entire community center buzzing with crafting activities, and the event is really for everyone to come and have some hands on crafting funâ says Dawn Pia, Community Services Supervisor. Participants are invited to walk around the event, shop the vendors, drink coffee, eat snacks, watch featured demonstrations and listen to music well into the night. Vendor booths will feature projects developed especially for the event by local crafters (note some of the projects are free, while others range in price from $2-$8). Many of the crafts will be kid-friendly and others will be for craft-minded adults. Craftinâ in the City will also offer craft classes throughout the day and will feature specific instruction on digital scrapbooking, crochet, dry erase board art and much more! Pre-sale tickets are available now at 2 for $8, and $5 per person at the door. The admission tickets will automatically enter participants in an opportunity drawing to win one of many door prizes donated by top craft manufacturers and the first 200 people through the door will receive a free crafty-swag bag filled with awesome treats and coupons.
