Description: | From Ozark Ham & Turkey Festival Website: The Ozark Ham and Turkey Festival takes place on the third Saturday of September and is located around the historic county courthouse in downtown California. Turkey drumsticks and ham sandwiches are the centerpieces of the festival which celebrates the two largest industries in town, Cargill Value Added Meats and Burger's Smokehouse.
Events include a BBQ contest, antique and classic car show, crafts, the worlds largest turkey sub sandwich, three stages of live entertainment, 5K walk/run, a parade that boasts over 100 entries, an antique tractor show, lots of food, and so much more.Shuttle buses make stops throughout town so that parking is a bit easier. Handicap parking is available behind Commerce Bank on East Street. Port-O-Potties are located behind Commerce Bank on East Street. A handicap accessible restroom is located in the Historical Society Building on corner of South and High Streets. The festival is sponsored by the California Area Chamber of Commerce. The Festival Committee requests that everyone avoid parking on Oak Street (from Smith to South) during the parade. It is unsafe for the kids, frustrating for the viewers and very difficult for the drivers of the big rigs that make the parade so exciting. There is plenty of room for cars to "park and view" on Smith Street or East Main Street.
