Description: | Location: Zoar Community Association Turn back the time and join us for a quiet old fashioned Christmas in the historic German Village of Zoar, Ohio on Saturday December 3rd from 10-7 and Sunday December 4th 12-5. Founded in 1817, a group of German settlers built a self sustaining village which can still be enjoyed today. Over 63 of the original buildings still stand, many are private residences, shops, museums and bed and breakfasts. The Historic Zoar Gardens provide the backdrop for a special tree lighting ceremony of the Christ tree, or tree of life in the center of the gardens. This festival will feature horse drawn wagon rides, carolers, Saint Nicholas, the Zoar Kristkind for the children, organ music in the historic church, and tours of many of the private Zoar homes decorated in an old fashioned Christmas tradition. The Zoar Store, historic buildings and museums will be open and decorated and will have costumed interpreters demonstrating old fashioned crafts. 35 holiday artists and crafts people will be located throughout the historic buildings to display and sell their crafts.Enjoy a free gingerbread cookie and hot apple cider from the Historic Zoar bakery.
