Description: Join us for the first event of the 2010 Dorothy H. Hirshon Film Festival as Director-in-Residence, Haile Gerima, screens the 1993 classic film Sankofa. Introduced by Michelle Materre, Assistant Professor, Media Studies and Film, the screening is followed by excerpts from his newest work Teza and conversation with Mr. Gerima. “[Sankofa] isnt just a sermon or a period piece [on slavery].
